Frances Evelyn Schulman's Obituary
It is with great sorrow that we share the news of the passing of
Frances (Fran) Schulman (Feldman) on Tuesday, April 27, 2026 at the age of 87.
Fran is survived by her husband Irving Schulman; her children Gail Schulman and Bob Sullaway, Debbi and Paul Reiss, and Ilene and Art Greenwald; her grandchildren Elana and Harrison Shapiro, Josh and Amanda Reiss, Lauren Reiss, Seth Greenwald, Stephen Greenwald, Sam Greenwald, Emma Sullaway, and Marty Sullaway; her great grandchildren Ari Reiss and Dylan Shapiro; her brother Murray Feldman; and her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Seena Chaset.
Fran was raised in Chelsea Massachusetts, the daughter of Sam and Edith Feldman. She attended nursing school at Beth Israel Hospital, where she met her beloved Irving, and they were married for nearly 66 years.
Fran worked as a nurse at Beth Israel Hospital for several years before raising three daughters and devoting herself to her family, her community in Peabody, and helping in Irving’s furniture business.
Upon their “retirement”, Fran and Irving spent many years in Delray Beach and West Palm Beach Florida, where they developed many new friendships and even ran a Party Goods business for several years.
Fran was known for her kugel, her mahjong playing, her role as “first mate” on the family boat, and her many roles at Temple Ner Tamid and Hadassah. Most of all, she was known for her friendships, her kindness to all, and especially her love of children. Fran was the world’s best bubbe—who proudly spoiled all of her grandchildren. She was also a recent great-bubbe, and could not pass a baby on the street without a smile and a comment.
Fran will be missed by all who knew her.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel (Boynton Location), 11115 Jog Road Boynton Beach, FL 33437, followed by a private interment in Peabody Massachusetts.
Shiva will be held in the homes of her three daughters. Contributions in her memory may be made to Temple Ner Tamid in Peabody or Jewish Family & Children’s Service of Greater Boston.
