Gail Leeds' Obituary
Gail Leeds, a resident of Palm Beach Gardens, FL since 1977 passed away July 25, 2019. Gail was born March 17, 1943 in Detroit, MI and graduated from Berkley High and Carnegie Institute of Detroit. Gail, a convert to Judaism, was a very active member of Temple Israel of West Palm Beach Sisterhood in the 1980’s where she wrote the Sisterhood monthly bulletin for several years and was active as President of a newly formed Tikva Chapter of Sisterhood. As a member of the Sisterhood she made many lasting friendships which continued over the years.
Gail had a long career in the financial and insurance industry beginning in 1980. She worked for MONY, Aetna, and Connnecticut Mutual, but her last 25 years were with UBS Financial Services (formerly PaineWebber) where she held many positions over the years including Branch Office Administrator. But her favorite was her last as receptionist at the front desk of the Palm Beach Office – Gail loved people and interacting with them on a daily basis. Her smile and genuinely radiant personality were a perfect fit. She was a recipient of the Employee of the Year Award 2012, which gave her great pleasure at the age of 70!
Gail is predeceased by her devoted and loving husband Stanford who was a wonderful companion to her for over 50 years. She is also survived by sons Michael Matonican, Brian Leeds and step-son Laurence (Heidi) Leeds of Plantation, her sisters and brother, Marilyn (Daniel) Osborne, Peggy Sue (Stephen) Ridella, and Walter (Barbara) Schwenck, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews who she also loved. For thirty years of her life she had the love of her two great dogs Sweetie Pie and Honey Bunch who gave her so much pleasure. Gail was also blessed with many wonderful friends in the community who added a lot of fun and joy to her years.
A memorial service for both Gail and Stan will be held 1:45 PM Friday August 16, 2019 at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 11115 Jog Rd., Boynton Beach, FL with private interment to follow. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, 3100/3200 N Military Trail, West Palm Beach, FL 33409, www.peggyadams.org.
