Gail Romanow's Obituary
Gail Romanow of Palm Beach, FL, and formerly of Newton, New Seabury, Brockton, and Longmeadow, MA, passed away Thursday May 8th. She is survived by her son Eric Romanow and her daughter Heidi Romanow, of Boston, MA, by her nephew Jason Gipstein, as well as by her granddaughter Sophia Romanow, whom she adored. She was preceded by her father, Dr. Benjamin Gipstein and her mother Dorothy Gipstein, her Uncle Charlie Weitzman, and her brother Dr. Robert Gipstein.
Gail was a proud graduate of McDuffee High School and Mt. Holyoke College where she majored in English. She was an avid reader and became a social worker in her early years before retiring as a real estate broker in later life. Gail was also an extremely devoted daughter to her own mother, who after becoming a widow in 1993 moved to West Palm Beach, where she lived until her death at the age of nearly 101.
Gail was a fighter who overcame many health setbacks yet never lost her will to live or love her family. She was blessed to be supported by the kindness and selfless care of Solaine Moise and Hilda Guzman.
In her later years, Gail maintained her sharp mind, reading books, doing crossword puzzles, and playing bridge, canasta, and Scrabble with her dear friends. She played Rummikub and gin rummy with her family and recently had learned a new card game she thoroughly enjoyed playing with her granddaughter. She regularly attended lectures, theatre productions, ballet performances, and Johnny Mathis concerts.
Gail lost touch with many friends she loved but always rooted for them and their families from afar. Some of the people she loved and was able to keep in touch with in more recent years include:
Cousin Michael Miller and his wife Genevieve, Ruth Roberts, Arlene Kurtis, Silvia Spier, Myrna Friedman, Roberta Nair, Sharon Cooper, Robert Romanow, Ann Ruth Lipman, Larry Siskind, and Linda Radding.
Also, those she cared for greatly but are no longer with us include:
Judy Siskind, Alan Zaff, Ira Lipman, Edward Radding, and Carmela Kalmanson
