Gary Alan Davis' Obituary
Gary A. Davis passed away peacefully in the arms of his wife and best friend, Deborah, on February 28, 2022, at age 71. Gary was a wonderful dancer and danced his way into Deborah's heart at a waltz class where they met. They continued dancing throughout their 26 years of marriage, which were packed with love and adventure. Gary was a devoted husband and father to his children.
Gary was diagnosed with a glioblastoma, (brain tumor) in September 2021. Gary bravely faced the challenges of this horrendous disease and he never complained or asked “why me". Instead, he focused on maintaining his positive attitude, and appreciation for his good life. Gary was a gentle and beautiful soul. He was taken from his loved ones too soon.
As a teen, Gary loved making stop-motion films, and delighted his family with card tricks and magic shows. He also enjoyed photography and spent countless hours in his home darkroom. A lifelong techie, Gary went on to have a successful career as a computer programmer, software developer, and website designer. For fun, he even made and sold computer games on cassette tapes before video games became “a thing”. Previously, during college in 1971, he invented a quirky, yet relevant, questionnaire and computerized match-making service, because he got “a kick out of doing it”. It was the first dating service of its kind and was adopted by his university. He and Deborah developed an e-commerce dating service with over 25,000 members. Gary enjoyed helping others. He was also a handyman, woodworker, our family genealogist, avid reader, candy lover, TiVo/DVR addict, and blogger and YouTuber of anything he thought could help others He enjoyed spending time and caring for their pet ducks with Deborah.
The son of the late George Davis and Alice Komessar, Gary is survived by his wife, Deborah Davis, mother, Joyce Davis, three sons, two grandchildren, eight siblings (one brother preceded him), and many other relatives. Gary will forever be deeply loved and missed by all.
A memorial service has not yet been planned. If you desire to make a contribution in memory of Gary, we thank you and suggest the American Brain Tumor Association or the Trustbridge Hospice Foundation for the wonderful care they provided in the last weeks of his life.
