Gary Reid's Obituary
Gary A. Reid
Gary Alan Reid, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in his home after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s in Austin, Texas. He was 69 years old.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Gary spent his formative years there before pursuing higher education at Georgia Tech, where he earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering. Known for his meticulous attention to detail and brilliant mind, Gary approached life with the same zest and passion he applied to his work.
Gary's life was forever changed on December 13, 1986, when he met the love of his life, Carol, while working in the family photo business - they married exactly one year later, on December 13, 1987. Together, they raised two beautiful daughters, who were everything to him: Amanda Reid Fox (husband Matt, son Jayden) and Samantha Reid Peterson (husband Chase, sons Ollie, Noah, and Miles). His legacy and memory will be carried on through all of them.
Gary adored his grandchildren, who brought immense joy and light into his life. He treasured every moment spent with them, whether it was playing games, FaceTime dinner dates, sharing music and stories, or cheering them on at their sports games. His grandson Jayden, and grandsons Ollie, Noah, and Miles, and his second true love - his toy poodle Evie - were the center of his world, and he took great pride in their accomplishments and adventures.
Gary found his true calling in the roofing industry. His dedication and expertise in this field defined much of his professional life, earning him utmost respect and admiration.
Gary’s funeral will be held on Sunday, August 4, at 12:30 pm at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, located at 11115 Jog Road, Boynton Beach, FL 33437.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, a cause close to his family’s hearts in hopes they find a cure.
Gary's memory will live on forever in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
