GLADYS FRANKEL's Obituary
Gladys Becker Frankel, 94, beloved wife, mummy, grammy, daughter, sister, caring friend, hostess with the mostest, and fashion maven passed away on September 10, 2022 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Born October 6, 1928 in Roxbury, Massachusetts to Herman and Minnie Becker, Gladys and her sister Sylvia had cousins, aunts, and uncles so close knit they were considered part of the nuclear family. Gladys adored, and was adored by, her parents, and spoke of how wise, kind and generous they were, having a large impact on how she conducted her life.
Gladys graduated from the University of New Hampshire where she made life-long friends. She worked with the Brandeis University founders on the administrative staff. A few years later she met the love of her life Justin Frankel. Married in 1949 they had an enduring love. Dedicated to family, they worked hard, moved often and picked up friends who became family along the way. Gladys managed physician offices, compiled Harvard studies and was a high school librarian. Gladys and Justin retired in Florida and Cape Cod where they gathered family and friends, always with an open door.
Gladys will be remembered for her blue eyes, wonderful smile and timeless style. She is survived by children, Susan Barzelay and husband William of Colleyville, Texas, and Dr. Mark Frankel and wife Leanne of Fort Worth Texas, grandchildren Jenna Barzelay and Dr. John Frankel, Tyler Frankel and Jake Frankel.
Services will be held at 10:00 am on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel in Boynton Beach, Florida. Donations in Glady’s memory may be made to the Jerome Pearlstein Fund/Friends of Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
