Harold Oshins was born on August 21, 1917. Hal, the name that most everyone called him, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2016, at the age of 99. He was blessed to have been able to celebrate his 99th birthday with family and friends but was less than a year short of being called a “centenarian”. Hal is survived by his 3 stepsons; Martin, Steven and Edward, 9 grandchildren; Marty and wife Laura, Jason and wife Annette, Donna and husband Curt, David and Lisa and husband Jimmy as well as Ethan, Dena, Rachel and Illana from his second marriage. Hal was happily married to his first wife, Rose, for 43 years until her passing in 1982. Hal also is survived by 9 great-grandchildren; Jordan, Noah, Holly Rose, Lily, Cole, Eileen, Grace, Emily and Madison. Hal was married again in 1983 to Florence Jacobowitz-Plotkin and they remained very happily married for over 32 years until her passing on May 20, 2016. Hal was also preceded in death by his 3 brothers; Ben, Morris and Larry, sister Dora, as well as his two children and son-in-law, Robert (wife Edith is surviving daughter in law to Hal), Joan and Allen Rubin. Hal was raised in New York City, where he grew up with his three brothers and sister and Parents; Louis and Beckie Oshinsky. In 1977, after raising a family of his own with Rose and retiring from the US Post Office as a Post Master, Hal and Rose moved to Margate, Florida. Hal thoroughly enjoyed his retired lifestyle by traveling often. He was especially fond of cruises. After Rose passed away, Hal met Florence (Florrie) and they were married in 1983 and they lived in Boynton Beach, FL. They also enjoyed their lives together and took many exciting trips; one in particular to Israel where Hal was Bar-Mitzvah’d. Hal and Florrie eventually lived in retirement homes in South Florida. Hal moved to a retirement home in Georgia to be close to remaining family until his passing. He will be missed by many whose lives were touched by his generosity, humor and intellect. Graveside services will be held at 2:15pm on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens, 11520 State Road 7, Boynton Beach, FL. 33473.
