Harold was my fraternity brother at Memphis State and I spent 4 1/2 years of my life with him. He was one of a kind and a great friend. I will miss him and still smile at the memories he gave me.
I worked with Harold for 25 years at JByrons. He treated me like a little brother and I will never forget how wonderful of a person he was and all of the many things that I learned from him over the years. His sense of humor and wit were second to none.
I first met Harold when we both were trainees at what was then called Jackson's Byrons in Miami in 1971. When he first became a store manager, I was his first assistant manager in Hialeah. He always was ambitious, intelligent and articulate, and quickly moved up the corporate ladder. But what I remember most about Harold was his great sense of humor. When visiting my store at the Osceola Square Mall in Kissimmee one day, he decided to peruse the mall to see what other stores were there. Noting that at least five or six storefronts were empty, with the signs in them all saying "Another fine store coming soon," Harold was quick to retort: "Boy, this Mr. Fine is really opening a lot of stores here." It was typical of Harold's quick wit.Harold was a very good man. May he rest in peace.Jack Kaplan
Harold was a mentor to me in my early career at J Byrons. He was tough but fair which inspired me to achieve more. Harold always had your back. His sense of humor was one of a kind. My condolences to Karen and the family. Jim Mackey
