Harry Goldstein's Obituary
It is with a great sadness and loss to humanity to announce the passing of Harry Goldstein, 95, formerly of Boynton Beach, Florida. Harry was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1927, almost 100 years ago, before the Great Depression and in a very different time of life. But because of his brilliance and his forward-thinking philosophy, he made an incredible addition to mankind. Harry was kind, caring, funny and always looked out for others. Harry was the son of Nathan and Dora Goldstein, formerly of West New York, New Jersey, and who predeceased him, as did his sister, Shirley, her husband, Ben and his nephew, Alan. He was also a wonderful husband to his wife of 68 years, Barbara, who predeceased him in 2018. He is survived by his sister, Rhoda and her children Terri (Joe), Judi (Ted) and their children, Dara and Hannah. Rhoda’s husband, Marty, predeceased him. Harry is also survived by his nephew, Jack (Kate) and their children, Caitlin (Reuben) and nieces, Sarah and Arielle. Harry was the most incredible father to his two children, beloved daughter Roni and his beloved son, Joe (Ines). Harry was blessed to have two wonderful grandchildren, Nicholas (Megan) and Katelyn (Khoa). His dear son-in-law, Max Jarrell, predeceased him, but Harry is also survived by Max’s children, Chris (Lora) and their children and Max II (Stephanie), and great grandsons, Mike Jarrell (Misty) and great-grandson, Jake, his children and granddaughter Stephanie (Brandon) and their children. Harry graduated Weehawken High School in 1945, and proceeded to directly join the Navy, where he served on LST 46 and Subic Bay Philippines and in Hong Kong. In fact, since Harry didn’t have a middle name, his Navy dog tags read “Harry None Goldstein”. In 2014, Harry, Max, and Roni took an awesome 11 trip to Europe to commemorate the 70th anniversary of D-Day. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Harry attended and graduated from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA and then proceeded to work with his father, Nathan, for 50 years as the owner of Comet Embroidery. Comet Embroidery used large embroidery machines with needles that would sequentially move back-and-forth. Very often, Harry would come home with some of the needles from the embroidery machines having gone through his hands, but he never complained about that or actually anything else ever. Harry had wonderful sayings such as “It’s time to get back to abnormal “, “You never get what you expect and you never get it where you expect it from”, and “It’s time to unlax”. One of his most endearing qualities is that Harry would often tell jokes, and break out laughing before he got to the punchline, leaving the people who were listening to the joke, puzzled and incredulous.
