Harvey Edward Finkel's Obituary
Harvey Edward Finkel, 81 of Delray Beach Florida passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, in Hospice care after courageously battling cancer for several years. Harvey was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York where he met his wife Marlene of 61 years. He attended Tildan High School before entering the workforce pursuing a career in retail.
In 1969 Harvey moved to Delaware where he advanced his career into retail management. In 1977 he moved his family to the small New England town of Derby, CT where he would raise his children and reside for the next forty years. Harvey skillfully navigated the competitive retail job market often taking long distance positions to provide for his family. He was a devoted family man and friend always looking to put those he loved ahead of himself.
Harvey retired from retail management in 2004 giving him time to enjoy his nine grandchildren, attending their many activities and always expressing the pride he felt as their Papa. In retirement he served as the Treasurer and later President of the Orangewood East Homeowner’s Association and held a seat on his town’s zoning board.
In 2015 he relocated to Delay Beach Florida escaping the New England winters. To keep his mind sharp, he achieved a certification as a tax preparer with Jackson Hewitt. He loved working with numbers and engaging with people. Harvey made it a point to stay involved with his family both near and far through video calls, Sunday dinners and frequent trips back home.
Harvey was a loving husband and is survived by his adored wife Marlene Nadridge Finkel. His daughters Allison, Lori and her husband Joe, Stephanie and her husband Don. He was a proud Papa to his grandchildren Rebecca and her husband David, Amanda, Karissa and her husband Joe, Jordyn and her husband Ryan, Lacey, Kaelyn, Bailey, Zachary and Emma. His great grandchildren Owen, Joey, Jaxson, and Cameron.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation in Harvey’s name be made to the American Cancer Society. The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and caregivers that supported Harvey including a deep gratitude to Nurse Marlene of Boca Raton Regional Healthcare.
