Helaine M Levitt's Obituary
Helaine M. (Cohn) Levitt, 85, resident of Boynton Beach, FL, formerly of Longmeadow, MA, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Helaine was born on May 22, 1938 in Springfield, MA. to the late Frederick and Mary Cohn, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Marvin B. Levitt, of 63 years. She graduated from Classical High School and continued her education at Beth Israel Nursing School in Boston, MA. She was a registered nurse for 43 years at Weston/Baystate Hospital. Through the years, she was a member of Hadassah and took part in many fundraising activities. She loved her card games, ceramics, summers at Cape Cod with her family, Daisy dog, spending time with her friends and she just “loved life”. One of her greatest passions was her love of traveling with her beloved husband. They traveled all around the world and their home reflected their passion. Helaine always looked to the good in people. She was kind, loving, funny and a lover of life. She was a devoted mother to her three children and their spouses, Gay and Allen Schwalbendorf, Fredi and Donna Levitt and Robert and Lynn Levitt and her loving grandchildren, Eric, Justin, Nathan, Ashley, Sydney, Ethan and Riley. She is also survived by her two sisters Louise Widland and her husband Michael and Linda Cohen, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Helaine loved her family and they all meant the world to her. She enjoyed her time with each of the family members, whether it was attending a show on Broadway, visiting Disney World, sharing a Saturday morning breakfast, or just long conversations on the phone. She genuinely cared what everyone had going on in their lives. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 24, 2023 at 12:15pm at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 11115 Jog Rd, Boynton Beach, FL. Burial will follow at Eternal Light Memorial Garden, 11520 State Road 7, Boynton Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association.
