Herbert Barth Bressman's Obituary
Herbert Barth Bressman (“Herb”), age 83, of Lake Worth, passed away on March 25, 2017. Herb was born on May 21, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY to Max and Rae Bressman. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School in New York, NY in 1951, and then attended Brandeis University in Waltham, MA on an academic scholarship. Although he was a member of the Class of 1955, Herb left Brandeis early to attend New York University College of Dentistry, from which he graduated with honors in 1958. He served as a Captain in the United States Army in Germany after dental school. Herb practiced dentistry for 40 years, mainly in Dunellen, NJ. He was a leader in the dental community and devoted to the betterment of the practice of dentistry. He served as the President of both the New Jersey Dental Association and the Central New Jersey Dental Association and as a delegate to the American Dental Association House of Delegates. Herb lived in Edison, NJ for more than 30 years. He was a loving father and husband, who enjoyed summers with his family in Hemlock Farms, PA, playing tennis and golf, and a was a member of the Lords Valley Country Club for more than 20 years. He also was a member of The Fountains Country Club in Lake Worth, FL. Herb was a proud and lifelong supporter of Brandeis. Herb is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Sherrill Light Bressman; son, Michael, daughter-in-law Lisa, and grandchildren Zachary, Jacob, and Zoe of Nashville, TN; and son, Richard, daughter-in-law Mary Rose, and grandchildren, Sloan, Jonathan, and Paige of Stuart, FL. He also is survived by his brother, Edward of Matthews, NC; brother-in-law, Norman Light of Staten Island, NY; and a niece and nephew and numerous cousins. Funeral services will be held at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 11115 Jog Road, Boynton Beach on Monday March 27, 2017 beginning at 1:00 PM, followed by burial at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens, 11520 State Road 7, Boynton Beach.
