Howard Schiffer's Obituary
Dr. Howard Schiffer age 96 passed peacefully (not Covid related) in Delray Beach Florida on August 2, 2020. Howard was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 5, 1924. He was the son of the late Irving and Edith Schiffer. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Florence Shane; devoted son, Michael Jeffrey (Gayle) and loving daughter Mady Beth (Max); beloved brother, Jerome Schiffer (Judy) and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the beloved brother of the late Toby Warshavsky. Howard graduated from Brooklyn College at age of 18, Phi Beta
Kappa. He graduated the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, Summa Cum Laude. He served in the Army during WW II and was a Captain in the Air Force during the Korean War. He practiced dentistry for many years in partnership with beloved brother- in-law Henry Warshavsky. He was loved by all his patients. Howard was a life member of Madison Jewish Center in Brooklyn, NY where he was the President of the Couples Group. For the past 30 years he resided in Gleneagles Country Club, Florida where he was an avid golfer, bridge player as well as an accomplished Japanese brush painter. He also painted in oil and watercolors. Howard was also a long time member of the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens where he taught classes in Bonsai. Howard had an amazing love of life who will be missed by everyone who had met him.
Due to Covid-19, a private ceremony will be held on August 11 at South Florida National Cemetery at 12:30pm grave site service. Interactive on line services will be available. Please contact family members if available.
