Ilene Soyt's Obituary
Ilene Soyt, 96, died peacefully on June 30, 2023 in Boca Raton FL after battling Alzheimer’s Disease for several years. Her parents Max and Emma emigrated from Eastern Europe to the United States in the early 1920s following World War I. She is also predeceased by her husband of 56 years Seymour and her sister Claire. She leaves behind her sister Shirley, her son Kevin and his husband Richard, her daughter Tova and her husband Tony, her grandson Jonathan and his wife Madison, great-grandsons Rye and Wiley, several cousins, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Born in the Bronx NY, Ilene also lived in Putnam Valley NY and Delray Beach FL. She was an avid knitter and was playing Canasta and Mah Jong regularly until just a few years before her death. She valued family and friends and enjoyed preparing and sharing in holiday meals and festivities. She volunteered for many organizations including her children’s school PTAs, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Delray Villas HOA, NA’AMAT, Hadassah, and her synagogues.
Graveside service and burial will take place at 10:45 am on Monday, July 3, 2023, at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors at Kevin and Richard’s home on Sunday, July 2 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm and Monday, July 3 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. Plans for a memorial gathering at Tova and Tony’s home are being finalized. The family thanks all of the caregivers at Stratford Court and Trustbridge Hospice for their compassion and kindness. Contributions in Ilene’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Trustbridge Hospice.
