Jack Rozen's Obituary
Jack Rozen passed away peacefully at home on February 21st, 2023, after a lengthy illness. Jack was born on January 6, 1937 in Pittsburgh, PA. Beloved and devoted husband of Rosalie Green for 61 years, proud father of Sheryl, Michael and Daniel, father-in-law of Gary, and cherished grandfather of Adam, Dana, Zan, India, Georgia, Quinn and Ilsi. Brother to Nancy and Murray (deceased), and brother-in-law to Larry.
Jack was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh Medical School. He served with distinction in the United States Air Force at Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, Illinois. Thereafter he took his residency in Dermatology at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City, where he was also an Assistant Clinical Professor in addition to his successful and highly regarded private practice on 5th Avenue in Manhattan.
An avid sports fan, Jack was a regular at Knicks, Rangers and Giants games, a runner for many years and, later in life, an eager, if inconsistent, golfer. A lifelong teetotaler, Jack’s culinary passion focused on the dessert course, with a particular enthusiasm for 7-layer cake. He was also a true rock ‘n roller, an early devotee of the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Police and Bruce Springsteen.
Despite his outwardly calm and serene demeanor, Jack had a penchant for nicknames, enjoyed a good party and was endowed with a dry sense of humor.
Jack and Rosalie retired to Florida in 2004 after decades of life in northern New Jersey where they raised their children.
Always a thoughtful, trusted and, above all, irreproachably honest husband, confidante, father, brother, mentor, physician, partner and friend, Jack was beloved by all who had the good fortune to know him. When he looked in your eyes, you knew that Jack’s only thought was how he could help you; he was truly caring and empathetic.
Jack will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 5808 W. Atlantic Ave, Delray Beach, Fl 33484 on February 23rd at 2 pm, followed by shiva at the home of Jack and Rosalie’s daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Gary Gottdiener, at Addison Reserve Country Club, 16082 Via Monteverde, Delray Beach.
