Jaime Fernando Ortiz, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on July 9th at 79. Jaime was a devoted family man who took great joy in cooking, tennis, soccer and above all, spending time with his loved ones. He loved his family!
Jaime is survived by his wife Berta Ortiz Vargas; married for 54 years, his three children, Maria Alejandra Ortiz, Max Antonio Ortiz his late son Jaime Andres Ortiz. His Sister Marta, brothers Patricio, Eduardo and Hernan. He adored his four grandchildren, Gabriella Lomonico, Jaime Xavier Ortiz, Chloe Ortiz and Annabelle Ortiz. He was a caring and supportive presence in the lives of his family, always making time to share a home-cooked meal and create lasting memories together. The unity of family was everything for him. He was patriarch of our family that guided us with dignity, respect and love.
Born in Santiago Chile, Jaime immigrated to the United States with our mother. from day, one starting at around 25 he had entrepreneur skills and started with ownin a garage . He went on to his other passions of culinary skills and owned restaurants and a bed-and-breakfast. He would buy old homes and flip them . In our eyes, he could do anything. In his retirement, Jaime continued to delight his family and friends by hosting frequent gatherings where he would prepare his signature dishes.
Jaime's warmth, generosity, and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a lover of life and beautiful things. He lived with integrity, always well dressed and with his joyful spirit, he was able to make friends and connect with strangers or anyone whom he met.
A memorial service was on July 10th, at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, Delray Florida.
