James "Jimmy" Parrish Jr.'s Obituary
A Time to be Born
James “Jimmy” Edward Parrish, Jr. was born on May 4, 1966 in Toledo, Ohio to the parentage of James E. Parrish, Sr. and the late Joyce Ann Parrish.
A Time to Learn, Serve and Live
As a child Jimmy attended Loyd Estates Elementary, Everglades Middle School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Nova High School in Davie, Florida where he graduated with the class of 1984. He earned an Associate’s degree from Tampa Technical School in Tampa, Florida and held several jobs in the IT industry. He then began his lifelong career with Broward County Schools in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he was head custodian at Whiddon-Rogers Education Center. After retirement, he moved to Georgia where he worked in Bulloch County as a custodian then with the Atlanta Hawks Arena in security. Jimmy moved back to Florida where his job was caring for his Uncle Leo and playing cards with him. Jimmy used humor and joy for life to embrace his family and friends.
James E. Parrish, Jr accepted the Lord at a young age at Golden Heights Church of Christ. After marriage and moving back to Georgia, Jimmy was a faithful member of Mount Olive Baptist church where he worshipped with his wife, Alisa Parrish.
Jimmy was known for not meeting a stranger, his love for music, tik tok and You Tube scrolling and talking on the phone. He loved his nieces, nephews and grandchildren with a passion. Jimmy also spent quality time with his mother-in-law, Mrs. Laura Riggs. During the Christmas holidays, it would not be uncommon for Jimmy and Alisa to visit his siblings, Judith Parrish Geter and Jina Parrish Lane in Georgia and have the best time of his life eating good food, joking around, and playing games.
A Time to Depart
On Friday, June 13, 2025 the angel of the Lord carried James “Jimmy” to the hands of the Almighty God, where he will live eternally. Jimmy was proceeded in death by his mother, Joyce Ann Parrish and special sister-in-law, Vernice Riggs.
