Jay and I go back to1634 Popham avenue in The Bronx where we met as two four-year olds on the street corner and bonding on having birthdays just 4 days apart, Jay being older which he never let me forget. We grew up into our teens, always playing together and riding our bikes around the streets and often across the George Washington bridge to Palisades Amusement Park for rides and hopefully to find some 13 year-old girls to go on the Tunnel of Love.
We never did find any girls who would. We spent a few summers in The Rockaways, Jay on 72nd street and I on 33rd street, meeting often on our bikes and again, looking for girls and not ever finding them.
I have many other stories to tell of our times growing up, but too many to tell here.
I will miss him.
