Jay Morton Mitchell's Obituary
Jay Mitchell Obituary
It is with a very heavy heart that I wish to notify you of the passing of Jay Mitchell on Friday March 24,
2023. He had just celebrated his 89th birthday. Beloved husband of Aline Mitchell & extraordinary
father to Elizabeth, Kim, Wendy & Jeffrey Mitchell. Doting grandfather to Noah & Jake Mitchell. Jay
was born in Brooklyn N.Y. & moved to Florida in his early teens. Attending Brooklyn Tech & graduating
from high school in Miami he entered the University of Florida at the age of 15 where he was a member
of Alpha Epsilon Pi. While home on spring break he was introduced to Aline who was attending Miami
Beach High School. Shortly thereafter Aline joined him at the University until Uncle Sam called & Jay
joined the Army.
Jay & family set up residency in the Pinecrest area of Miami. He spent many years working in the
garment industry until moving to Palm Beach County in an Active Adult Community. Jay participated in
numerous community activities & was an enthusiastic member of their renowned theatre group. He
really enjoyed acting in several of their productions. His artistic talents extended to stone sculpting
while exploring different artistic media. However, first & foremost on Jay’s list of leisurely activities was
fishing with dancing a close second. He also was an avid reader; enjoyed playing cards with friends &
had the uncanny skill to figure out how to fix anything & everything.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday April 4th at 12:30 at the Beth Israel Chapel at 11115 Jog Road,
Boynton Beach Fl , followed by burial at the V.A. Cemetery on 441
