1938-2024
Jerald (Jerry) Eppy passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on February 2, 2024. He was born May 4, 1938, in Canton, Ohio to Ben and Ruth Eppy. He is survived by his wife Judy (Weiser) after a remarkable 65 years. Jerry is also survived by his loving children, Joe and Fran Eppy and Marci and Steve
Schwartz. He also leaves Grandchildren Sam and Kelly Eppy, Craig Eppy, Jeffrey Schwartz and Brad Schwartz, as well as Great-Grandchildren, Ben and Nate Eppy and Emma Schwartz. He is also survived by sister Judy Tekel and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jerry graduated from McKinley High School in 1955 and attended General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan. He came back to Canton in 1957 to help run the family business. Jerry retired in 1997 as President of Eppy’s Chevrolet in Canton Ohio and moved to South Florida. He was a past President of Shaaray Torah Synagogue and Canton Jewish Community Federation. He served on boards of the Canton Ex Newsboys Association, United Jewish Appeal, Young Leadership and the J. Babe Stearn Community Center. He was a lifelong Mason. Active in the Pro Football Hall of Fame parade, Jerry worked tirelessly so Enshrinees and Celebrities could have convertibles every year.
Jerry was an enthusiastic member of Arrowhead Country Club in Canton Ohio and joined Boca Woods Country Club in Boca Raton when he retired. He loved to golf and enjoyed countless social engagements with his wife Judy. His greatest pleasure was his family, and he had the pleasure of taking all his grandsons on many summer vacations. Jerry also travelled much of the world with his wife, the love of each other’s lives.
Services will be Tuesday, February 6, 2024, 9:30AM at Beth Israel Chapel, 5808 W Atlantic Avenue, Delray Beach. Internment at Eternal Light Memorial Garden, 11520 State Rd 7, Boynton Beach, Florida following the service. Shiva at the home of Marci and Steve Schwartz, Delray Beach, Florida. Shiva will also be
observed on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 5-8 PM.
