Jerome Murray Schlakman's Obituary
Jerome Murray Schlakman passed away peacefully on November 8th at the age of 98. A long -time Massachusetts resident, most recently residing in Boca Raton, FL, he was predeceased by his loving, devoted wife of 64 years, Eleanor, and his brother Charles. Jerry is survived by his three children: David (Lisa), Melinda (Jeffrey) and Robert (Andrea); six grandchildren: Eric (Caitlin), Michale (Traci), Steven, Andrew (Heather), Abigail and Daniel and 19 great-grandchildren.
A proud and involved alumnus of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a World War II Army veteran, Jerry went to work at Filene's in Boston, where he met the love of his life, Ellie. He then went on to build long and successful careers in marketing and commercial printing at American Biltrite Rubber Company and Clark-Franklin-Kingston Press, respectively.
Graviside funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 12th at 10:45am at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens (11520 State Road 7, Boynton Beach, FL 33473). Shiva will take place following the funeral service at the home of Melinda & Jeffrey Klein in Boca Raton, FL. Shiva will also take place on Tuesday, November 14th at the home of Robert & Andrea Schlakman in Sharon, MA. A celebration of Jerry's life will be held in New Orleans, LA at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jerry's memory may be made to the University of Pennsylvania (upenn.edu), the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org), the New Orleans Women & Children's Shelter (nowcs.org) or the charity of you choice.
