It is December 5, 2024 and I’m thinking of you Joanie. You were a good friend in high School, never exclusive, always inclusive, with a great sense of humor. Although we haven’t talked or seen each other in an entire lifetime- I cherish the brief time we had in Winthrop so many years ago. Wonderful journey to you, Joanie!
I knew Joanie growing up in Winthrop at St. John's School. I lost touch with her after 6th grade but reconnected in college. Joanie and another friend showed up at my dorm room on move-in weekend. We renewed our friendship and have remained friends in spite of the distances between us.
The world is a better place because Joan has lived in it.
PS,I got chewed out by the proctor for having girls in my room.
It is hard to believe that that my little sister, Joanie, has passed. She was a love and very special! Growing up in Winthrop, Mass, she was always singing, dancing, and hugging her three brothers. She had countless friends, many of whom graced our home on Beal Street. A true "Flower Child", Joan embraced the 60's and never missed a protest that she didn't enjoy. Joan was smart, sensitive, and caring, and possessed a quick wit and great sense of humor. Her husband, Larry, her children and grandkids were the loves of her life and she especially delighted in spoiling all of them. I love you, Joan! Rest in peace my sweet Sister.
