Jordan Joseph's Obituary
Jordan Joseph, 90, of St. Petersburg, FL, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024.
Jordan was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 2, 1934, the second child and only son of Gussie (Davis) and Samuel Joseph. After completing his military service, during which he was stationed in Italy, he returned to Brooklyn, where he married the love of his life, Barbara (Bogan). They were married for 65 years. Jordan and Barbara had an extremely close group of friends from their childhoods in Brooklyn, who have remained close throughout their lives.
Jordan and Barbara made their home first in Queens, NY, then in Brooklyn, Staten Island, and upon retirement, in Delray Beach, Florida. In Delray Beach, Jordan made many new friends, and enjoyed playing tennis, dominoes and cards, and taking long walks in the Florida sunshine.
Jordan enjoyed growing delicious vegetables and pretty flowers in the tiny patch of soil in the backyard of their Brooklyn duplex. He played a mean game of table tennis, and taught his daughters, Sharon and Vickie, how to play as well. He also enjoyed raising saltwater fish in two big tanks in the living room of their Brooklyn home. He enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially the New York Jets and the New York Mets. Jordan had a mischievous sense of humor that could make his family roar with laughter, and was a truly good guy.
Jordan worked as a comptroller for a small houseware distribution company for many years, Samar Distributors, where he was a trusted and loyal employee. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, their children Sharon Berkowitz (Benjamin), Vickie Williams (David); his grandchildren Brian Berkowitz, Jamie Berkowitz, Amalia Okrent (Joshua), Zachary Williams, and one great-grandchild, Ari Okrent.
A graveside service will be held at Wellwood Cemetery on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 1pm. Those wishing to honor Jordan with a memorial contribution are kindly encouraged to consider a donation to
