Joseph Geshgoren's Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Joseph Geshgoren, who left us peacefully at the age of 96. Born in Brooklyn, NY, to his cherished parents, Julius and Becky, Joseph was a devoted father, a kind friend, and a man whose warmth and generosity left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Joseph raised his family in Fresh Meadows, Queens, NY, and then later in life, retired to Boca Raton, FL.As a father to his son, Stuart Geshgoren, and his daughter, Rachelle Karmin, Joseph was the very definition of love, patience, and devotion. The bond they shared was unique—together, they were each other's best friends, always finding joy in each other's company. Joe’s simple pleasures were the heart of his days: a peaceful walk when the weather was right, a bowl of Cheerios topped with blueberries and bananas (a ritual he kept for over 30 years), and the comforting, familiar scenes of old Westerns that he loved to watch again and again. Joseph was a man of faith, and his Jewish beliefs brought him great comfort and peace throughout his life. His kindness extended far beyond his family, as he gave generously to those in need and supported various charities. To all who met him, Joseph was a warm, compassionate, and caring soul—someone whose genuine smile and laughter could light up a room. Though Joseph’s earthly presence is no longer with us, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and faith that will continue to inspire and comfort all who knew him. His memory will be cherished forever. A small, private funeral service will be held to honor Joseph’s life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Jewish Broadcasting Service (https://jbstv.org), or Veterans of Foreign Wars (https://www.vfw.org), causes that were close to his heart. We also encourage all those who knew him to share their memories and remembrances on the memorial website, where we can all come together to celebrate his long life.
