March 28, 1945 - December 23, 2024
Joseph J. Hauptly (Joe) of Boynton Beach, Florida passed away at home on Monday, December 23, 2024, surrounded by family. He was the husband of Sheryl L. Hauptly (Kleiman). They recently celebrated 44 years of marriage.
Joe was born on March 28, 1945 in Pottsville, PA. He graduated from Nativity BVM High School in 1963 and went on to attend Penn State University graduating in 1967 with a degree in accounting.
After college Joe joined the U.S. Army Reserves where he served from 1968-1974 earning the rank of Specialist 5. He was a Cold War Veteran. In addition to his duties in the Army Reserves he also served as a volunteer firefighter for the Yorkville Hose VFD in Pottsville, PA.
Joe was a successful businessman for nearly 50 years. He started working at his father’s company, Hauptly Insurance Agency, in the 1970’s as an accountant/insurance agent and eventually took over the business as the owner operator in the 1980’s. When he wasn’t working he was busy volunteering for many organizations and coaching his children’s sports.
Joe was the kindest soul and treated everyone he met with the utmost respect. He loved and took care of his family, was devoted to his friendships and just adored by all.
He loved building Ham Radio sets, cooking, being outdoors, especially nature walks and being by the beach and trading in the stock market.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister Geraldine Given, Largo FL, son Michael Hauptly (Jintana), Jacksonville, NC, daughters Heather Hauptly (Tracy), Phoenix, AZ, Michelle Fransisco (Ryan), Camden, DE, Alana Skobel (Brad), Collegeville, PA and 7 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph A. and Alice Hauptly and his sister Joan Roberts.
Joe lived a beautiful life and our family will forever be grateful for his love, guidance and devotion. While he will be missed terribly we are thankful for the memories that we will cherish forever.
A celebration of life will be held for Joe at a later date.
