Josephine Koch's Obituary
Josephine Koch was born Josephine Hirsch in Vienna, Austria on September 20, 1926. She was forced to flee there after the Nazis came into power. She arrived in NYC with her parents, Ernest & Fritzi Hirsch and her brother Paul Hirsch in September 1938. She attended school in NYC and had to go to work to help support her family before she could finish high school. After WWII she met her husband Arthur (Bill) Koch and they were married March 30,1947. Together and later with their son Steven, they would run the family business, Bill’s Safety Auto Glass, for 50 years. Her son Joel, was a ski instructor and fishing guide in New Hampshire for many years.
Josephine loved all active sports. She was an ice skater, tennis player, skier, swimmer and would kayak in the water of Brooklyn and in Siesta Key, FL after they moved there.
Bill passed away in Feb 2008 after they had moved to Boynton Beach to be closer to family. Josephine moved into Abbey Del Ray, an independent living facility, in 2010 where she continued to be active until her passing on Feb 22, 2024.
She is survived by her brother Paul and his wife, Lenore, her sons Steven and his wife Diane and Joel and his wife Betty. Her extended family includes many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11am on Sunday, February 25, 2023, at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, (Boynton Location), 11115 Jog Road, Boynton Beach, FL 33437. Interment to follow at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 11520 State Road 7 Boynton Beach, FL 33473.
