You were one of the "best" my brother and we in the fire investigators community will never forget you. Thank you for your many years of mentoring, kindness, and friendship. To Barbara and family my God give you strength and comfort in the days of sorrow knowing that your husband and father is now at rest in his home in heaven. Bumper Moylani
So sorry for you and your family
Bob and I have known Cousin Larry for all our adult lives, and he has always enriched them. He was a man’s man, but always related with respect, care and concern to women. Larry was a man you could depend on, and went out of his way to help a friend or family member. Goodbye, Larry, we are sure going to miss you, Michelle and Bob PriceLit a candle in memory of LAWRENCE WEINTRAUB
My deepest condolences to Larry's wife and family. I was always happy to hear Larry's name responding to a scene because I knew he'd figure it out and get us out of there as quickly as possible, while always doing a conscientious and complete investigation. I also took a Fire Investigation class with him, he was an outstanding instructor, passing on his wisdom and enthusiasm. What a career and life he had, I only wish it hadn't been cut so short.
Beautiful tribute Barbara.
When my son was small and ran a high fever, my doctor advised me that as long as he was smiling and laughing, everything would be fine. Barbara and I were talking several days before Larry passed away and I asked her if he still smiled and laughed. She said he laughed especially when with his family. Family was Larry's touchstone. From his remarkable relationship with his wife Barbara and his sister Carol, to his children and their children, Larry was always laughing. I was honored to be part of that from time to time. I will miss his laugh.
I first met Larry in High School (in the early 60') and we became very good friends, I do not remember when we quit being friends and became BROTHERS. I can not remember ever having an augment. To say the Larry was a great husband, brother, father, grandfather would be an understatement. Having Larry in my life has made me a better person and I will miss him deeply for the rest of my life.

I can not remember a disagreement we ever had. To say that Larry was a GREAT friend, father, brother and husband is an understatement. I'm a better person by having Larry in my life and will deeply miss him for the remainder of my life. I wish all my LOVE to Larry entire family.Ken Lifland
LAWRENCE [LARRY] WEINTRAUB Galant fight for almost 4 years with pancreatic cancer, he strived to live a healthy life but succumbed to the illness which sadly took him from all of us. Date of birth- August 17, 1943 Date of death- November 16, 2017 74 years young Born- Far Rockaway, NY Graduated from Miami Senior High School (1961) Miami-Dade Community College Associate of Arts Degree (1963) Florida State University Criminology & Corrections (1964-65) Married to Barbara Weintraub Children- Edie, Joel, and Elyse Grandchildren- Shane, Annie, Hunter, Amber Shea, Jocelyn, and London Lawrence [Larry] Weintraub lost his nearly 4-year gallant fight with pancreatic cancer the evening of Thursday, November 16th which was ironically Pancreatic Cancer Day. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. He touched many lives in his 74 years of remarkable life. Larry dedicated 33 years working for the City of Miami Fire & Rescue Dept. in 1966 as a Firefighter, Driver, Engineer, Fire Inspector, Lieutenant, and then found his true calling as a Fire Investigator and Investigations Supervisor. He acquired too many commendations to list. Some of these include a 1985 Commendation by State Attorney, Janet Reno, for his role as a fire investigation, from 1993-1999 Of the Year Awards for Fire Investigator, Firefighter, and Fire Officer, and a Distinguished Service Award, “Fire House Magazine” Heroism & Community Service Award in 1994. As if working during business hours wasn’t enough, he also had an investigations business for 8 years with his partner John Gilbert, called Ignition Sequence Investigations where he conducted origin and cause investigations, product liability and fraud investigations. In 1999, Larry finally retired from the City of Miami. Larry also served as the President and the Board of Directors on the Florida Chapter of the International Association of Fire Investigators and as a committee Chairman for the International Chapter. In 2001-2006, Larry worked in the private sector for Ward and Whitemore Universal Fire Consultants and then Jack Ward Fire Consultants. But then, after much convincing from his friends in the business, he decided to open his own business Weintraub Fire Consultants; not too original but, his name carried weight in gold. This is because of his and City of Miami Electrical Inspector Louis M. Jimenez discovery and documented phenomenon called “Pyrophoric Carbonization and Open Neutrals”. This, by the way, is ironic. The weekend, when this discovery came together, was his wedding anniversary weekend but Barbara understood he was in the midst of a “break-through” discovery, which ultimately would solve a big fire-cause mystery and save firefighters from electrocution. So, enough about his legendary and tireless career that he would have never stopped if it wasn’t for that nasty cancer. Now it’s time to share his ultimate triumph – his family. Larry’s family was truly his life. He was “The One” in the family full of wisdom and reason, “The One” everyone else relied on for answers, guidance, and direction, “The One” always taking the pictures, and “The One” with the huge shoulders (or the size of a 7’ man) though always there to lend a hand, help, and do the “hard” stuff. Some of Larry’s hobbies included fishing, building furniture, working out and riding his bike 20 miles every day, taking rides on his Harley, taking cruises around the world with Barbara and his sister Carol and brother-in-law Kenny, and most of all spending time with his family at home and away on vacations. Larry is not suffering anymore. He fought like a champ and he will be deeply and profoundly missed.
