Lenore Krugman's Obituary
Lenore Krugman, born in Norwich, Connecticut on March 25,1927, passed away in the early morning of April 1, 2026, at her home in Boca Raton, Florida, at the age of 99.
A memorial service will be held at the Beth Israel Chapel, 5805 W. Atlantic Ave, Delray Beach, Florida at 1PM on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, followed by the burial at the Eternal Lite Memorial Gardens, 11520 State Road 7, Boynton Beach, Florida 33473. Shiva will be held for one evening afterwards at Lenore’s home where friends and family are invited to pay their respects.
After relocating from Connecticut at an early age, Lenore grew up in Brooklyn, New York with her parents, Maurice and Marcia Krugman and her siblings, Gloria, Bassella and David, all now of blessed memory. After graduating New Utrecht high school, Lenore pursued a career in the fur business, modeling in lower Manhattan, buying and selling furs and garments to retailers, and ultimately rising to the upper management of Neiman Marcus as a fur garment buyer and regional manager, which required a series of moves from Manhattan, Chicago, Houston, Bal Harbour and finally to Boca Raton. Lenore was both feared and loved by her furrier suppliers and Neiman employees alike, known for the “Krugman test,” the examination of garments for
purchase, where attention to detail was paramount. In her capacity as chief buyer, Lenore traveled the world seeking only the best furs and garments to stock the Neiman stores. She was the first in the family to travel beyond our shores and return to regions where her parents, east European immigrants fled decades earlier. Lenore loved her family, contributing critically needed monetary support from an early age, purchasing for her parents their first house in Willingboro, NJ, and caring for her mother during her last days. Her charity wasn’t limited to
family, as her receipts showed that she regularly donated to upwards of 40 charities each year.
Lenore never married and is survived by nieces and nephews, Martin (Carolyn), Elliot (Karen), Marc (Fredi), Susan (Ralph), Robin (Richard “Chico,”), Andy and Lori, brother-in-law Stanley (at 101!), and cousins Gloria (101!), Sol (Gloria,), Sharon (Neil,), grand nieces and nephews, Robyn, Michael, Michelle, Adam and Danny.
Memorial donations may be made to Susan G. Komen Foundation.
