Leonard McCrensky's Obituary
Leonard McCrensky, 94, of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully in his home on July 1, 2022. He was predeceased by his parents, Etta and David McCrensky, siblings Florence and Harold McCrensky and wife Merle Vengrow, amongst other family and innumerable friends.
He is survived by his beloved daughters, Arlene McLeod and husband Scott; Sherry Higgins and former husband Robert; adoring granddaughter Michelle Greer and husband Timothy; cherished great grandchildren, Brandon and Benjamin Greer; longtime and devoted girlfriend of 20 years, Sharon Ray; the most loyal friend and hair stylist, Rex Thayer; amongst other friends and relatives.
Born October 31, 1927 in Dorchester, MA, “Lennie” served in WWII, married the love of his life, Merle at age 23 and worked as a postal carrier in Brookline for all of his career. His wife passed away at a young age and he later migrated to Florida, where he enjoyed living for the last 25 years.
“Lennie” was a power walker, avid sports fan, soap opera and dog track enthusiast. He was larger than life and loved to be the center of attention. There was always a smile on his face and not a person he could pass by without cracking a joke (and they had better laugh). He will be remembered for his perfect and untouchable hair (with glitter), his meticulous schedule, his disdain for condiments, amongst many other idiosyncrasies, but most importantly, his generosity and eternal love for his family. To know him was to love him and laugh with him. Lennie’s favorite song and life motto was “I did it my way” and he sure did. Lennie was flown home to Massachusetts to be laid to rest, where a private ceremony was held and he was buried alongside his closest family.
