LEONARD PORTNOY's Obituary
Leonard Portnoy, 88, of Delray Beach passed away on April 5, 2018. He was born to Samuel and Eva Portnoy, emigrees from Russia, on March 26, 1930 in Queens New York. He married Dorothy Dickstein of the Bronx and they had been married for 58 years. They raised their daughters in Stamford, CT before relocating to Florida in 1991. Len held a Chemical Engineering degree from Polytechnic University and an MBA from NYU. He served in Trieste in the Korean war. Upon retirement, Len performed as Zippo the Clown and as a stand-up comedian. He served as president of the KrackerJack clown club. In 2005 he was voted “The Funniest Person in Boca Raton.” He performed regularly at Sugar Sand Park where he became a local celebrity. Dorothy and Len traveled and cruised all over the world and Len constantly regaled everyone with his humor. He volunteer for various charities, including “Old Jews Telling Jokes,” and the American Cancer Society. Leonard is survived by his wife Dorothy and daughters Sandra and Shari and sister Barbara Marmorstein. Services for Leonard will be held on Sunday, April 8 at 1:00 p.m. at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 5808 West Atlantic Avenue, Delray Beach, Florida. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
