Lois Campesi's Obituary
“Ageless”
Lois (Fifi, Lolo, Gigi) Barad Campesi was born in Newark, N.J. year??? to Joseph and Ethel Barad. She graduated from Weequahic High School. She then went on to attend Berkeley Secretarial School, Barbizon Modeling School and Parsons School of Design both in New York City. She worked as an airline reservationist, model, cosmetician and in the jewelry industry. Lois sold and designed jewelry at Miss Tobies in South Orange NJ and Ruth Satsky in Short Hills. She was one of the first to wear a bikini on the Jersey Shore and won “Ms. Suntan” in 1949. Her young modeling photos were also featured in 2006 in the Palm Beach Post for the Anniversary of the Bikini Tribute. Lois loved closing up the beach and she loved dancing until the wee hours of the morning in NJ and FL as well. She lived an amazing life with no regrets. She loved her family, friends, neighbors and animals with all her heart. Every year she looked forward to and enjoyed all the festivals. As always, at the Renaissance Festival she entered as a VIP with her fan base waiting at her favorite spots! She was an art lover who loved going to art shows. Give her a good jam session and undoubtedly, she would make her grand entrance and be one of the last to leave. Lois was always seen with a camera in hand corralling everyone into a picture. Her photos are a reminder of how important it is to capture the moments and make beautiful memories.
Her family remembers her unrelenting spirit, her love of life and the joy she found in just the simple things. Lois, Fifi, Lolo, Gigi, whichever you knew her as, reminded everyone every day to enjoy life to the fullest and not allow small things to get in the way of what really matters most. To know her was to love her. She was the life of the party. I'm sure everyone who knew her has a memory to make them smile. She was the best friend, best listener, advice giver, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She will be deeply missed by her family, many friends and all her animals.
She is survived by her daughters: Michele Mankoff and Debbie Toma (John), her grandchildren: Jessica D’amico, Erica Feldon (Paul), Jeremy Mankoff, Jonathan Toma, Jordan Toma (Kaitlyn), Brittani Helfer(Craig) and her great grandchildren: Aiden Feldon, Benjamin Feldon, Reese Toma, Liam Mankoff, Ella Helfer, Remi Toma
She is preceded by her parents: Ethel and Joe Barad, her husband Anthony Campesi
