Marian Sotsky's Obituary
Marian Sotsky passed away at the age of 78 on February 5, 2018 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She died peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Marian was born in the Bronx, NY on March 20, 1939 to the late Helen and Ben Etkin. She was predeceased by Oscar, her husband of over 50 years, and by her brother Alex Etkin.
She is survived by daughters Jill and husband Mark: Risa and husband Mike; and grandchildren Brian, Jonathan, Alex, Max, Rachel, Ellie and Lia.
Marian was a graduate of Hunter College and received a Masters in Education from SUNY New Paltz.
Her passion in life, beyond her family, was teaching children to read. She had a 25 year career in the Middletown School District, and was also an adjunct professor at SUNY New Paltz . She continued teaching in Florida at Florida Atlantic University until she retired. Over her 30 years of teaching, she has touched hundreds of children and helped them improve their lives through reading.
In recent years, Marian was a dedicated volunteer to the Aberdeen Chapter of the PAP Corps. She loved spending time with her family and she also loved cookies and ice cream. Her wit, passion and love will be missed by all.
