Marilyn Babitz's Obituary
Marilyn Babitz passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of December 20th, 2022. She
was born in 1932 in the Bronx, N.Y. to Eastern European immigrant parents and had two sisters.
In her early years, Marilyn was an accomplished legal assistant for one of the top national law firms in New York. Later, with 5 young children at home, and her extraordinary intellect driving her forward, Marilyn earned undergraduate and Masters degrees in Education and accomplished her dream of becoming an elementary school teacher. She taught reading and other subjects in the Hawthorne, N.J. school district for over 25 years and had a tremendous impact on countless students.
Upon retiring in 1992 and after 35 years living and raising a family in Glen Rock, N.J. with her beloved husband, Fred, Marilyn moved to Boynton
Beach, FL., where she enjoyed 30 years with her husband and many friends as an avid bridge player, tennis player and golfer.
In February of this year, Marilyn and Fred moved to Canyon Country, CA. to live with their daughter, Lynda,
and son-in-law, Dominick Furnari. She was surrounded by the love of her family, including nearby granddaughters and great grandson, until her
passing.
Marilyn is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, Fred Babitz; children, Elayne Spevack,
Sherry Ginsburg, Bryan Babitz, Lynda Furnari, and Martyn Babitz; three son-in laws and two daughter-in-laws, 15 grandchildren, and 8
great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her beloved grandson, Bradley.
Marilyn Babitz led an extraordinary life as a wonderfully loving, caring and giving person.
