MARILYN RUTH HEYDT's Obituary
Our dear mom passed this morning at 6 am. She was the bedrock of our family and leaves a legacy very few can claim. She is survived by her 4 Children: Steven, Arnold, Jeffrey, and Rhonda; 8 Grandchildren; Scott, David, Adam, Jay, Sara, Alex, Jamie and Stephanie; and 12 Great Grandchildren; Penelope, Ethan, Taliah, Shiloh, Gavin, Benjamin, Jude, Layla, Sebastian, Theodora, Uma and Tyler. Born in Detroit in 1923 grew up in the depression she devoted her early life to charity and community. In 1962 she moved her entire family to NYC where she once again established friendships and new roots. A grand master bridge player as well as NY Times crossword enthusiast. Her greatest gift was advice. She knew how to reassure any and all who came before her with their problems. As they knew she would tell them the truth.
She was not wealthy nor did she ever seek the trinkets we have all come to expect.
However she embraced technology and with her IPad she kept a close watch over her ever expanding family. She loved to speak and FaceTime with not only her grandchildren but also with her great grandchildren. Her dedication to my father Robert was remarkable especially when in his 90s she became his caregiver. Her grandchildren were her gems of life and up until her death she and they had one another in their thoughts.
