Marlene Rifkin 1937-2019
On November 28, 2019, Marlene Rifkin, loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, passed away at the age of 82, in her home in Boynton Beach, Florida. Marlene was born on August 25, 1937 to Irving & Ann Feuer in Brooklyn, NY. She and her twin sister, Carol, grew up in Brooklyn and then graduated from Oswego University.
On June 27, 1959 she married Robert (Bob) Rifkin and they moved to Port Jervis, NY where they raised two loving sons. They celebrated their 60th anniversary this past June. Marlene taught second grade at Matamoras (PA) Elementary School until she retired in 1989. During her years living in Port Jervis, she was involved in many volunteer activities – most often helping community youth. She spent over 20 years working in scouting. She and Bob retired to south Florida to be near their parents.
Marlene was known for her warmth and nurturing spirit. She saw potential in everyone and everything. She was a lifelong friend to many with a welcoming smile that drew people in. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, card nights and could be counted on to win at dominoes regularly! She loved spending time with family and was passionately proud of her children and grandson.
She is predeceased by her parents Irving and Ann, son Joe, sister Carol, nephew Sam, brothers-in-law Hal, Jack and Mel, mother-in-law Sarah and sister-in-law Sylvia.
Marlene is survived by husband Bob, son Gary, grandson Jack, daughter-in-law Kathleen, sister-in-law, Dorie and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 2, 11:00am at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 1115 Jog Rd, Boynton Beach. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2:00pm at Allegro Senior Living, 11450 Hagen Ranch Road, Boynton Beach.
