Marvin Napelbaum's Obituary
On Friday, February 21, 2020, Marvin Napelbaum went to be with his loving wife of 69 years, Rhoda Napelbaum at the age of 92. Rhoda passed away on February 1, 2020.
Marvin was born on September 20, 1927 in the Borough Park section of Brooklyn, NY to Robert and Esther Napelbaum. He attended New Utrecht High School followed by service to his country in WWII in the Army. On January 14, 1951 Marvin met and married the love of his life, Rhoda Horowitz. Together they built a loving marriage and raised four children: Marla, Eric, Beth and Hope. Marvin was an ambitious and tireless provider for his family. At an early age Marvin had too many jobs to list. Once married he began to make his mark working for himself selling and installing floor coverings on a recommendation basis while living in Howard Beach, Queens, NY. After establishing himself, he moved the family to Westport, CT where he opened a large retail floor covering store in Norwalk, CT. He branched out to designing and building the family home and built several other custom homes. He and Rhoda retired around 1982 moving to Boca Raton to enjoy the fruits of their hard work and sacrifices for their family. In May 2018 they moved to Fort Collins, CO to live in an assisted living facility where they enjoyed two final, but fun filled years, with all members of their family.
Marvin lived life to the fullest and on his own terms. Along with his wife Rhoda, their family was the most important priority in their lives and the accomplishment that they were most proud of. Whether it be the birth of their grandchildren, birthday parties, graduations or weddings Marvin and Rhoda were there to share in the joy. Marvin was very creative and a self-learned handyman. There was no project he could not tackle, and he was incredibly innovative, able to repair anything and building things from scratch. He lived within his means but also took great pride in his cars, the clothes he wore, eating at fine restaurants and traveling with Rhoda around the world. He was intensely passionate about his politics and views of the world order. Engagement on these topics with him was not for the faint of heart. However, underlying his passion was a man that was willing to help others less fortunate than him, unconditional love for his children and unwavering devotion to his wife Rhoda.
Marvin is the loving father of his surviving children; Marla Wexler and her husband Jeff, Eric Napelbaum and his wife Christine, Beth Trahan, Hope Clark and her husband David. He is the cherished grandfather of; Erin, Brandon, Kyle and Mirna, Rebecca, Anna, Melissa, Zachary and Matthew. Marvin is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Esther Napelbaum and brother Seymour Napelbaum who also served in the army in WWII.
Services will be held at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel in Boynton, Beach Florida on Monday, March 2, 2020 beginning at 11:30 AM EST. Interment will be at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida at 1:30 PM EST where he will be laid to rest with his wife Rhoda.
