Marvin Nathaniel Rosen's Obituary
Marvin Nathaniel Rosen
Delray Beach, Florida
12/24/24 - 4/21/23
Marvin Nathaniel Rosen was born 12/24/24 in NYC, by accident, as his mother decided to leave Syracuse to visit her sister dangerously close to her due date. He was raised in Syracuse, NY. Upon graduation from Nottingham High School, Marvin enlisted in the US Navy to serve in WWII. He earned the rank of third class petty officer. Through the GI Bill, Marvin escaped snowy Syracuse and enrolled in The University of Miami where he earned a BS degree and met his love and bride of 70 years, Phyllis. Together they raised two children Cathy (Donald) Zuckerman and Jeffrey (Ellen) Rosen in Wayside, NJ. Marvin owned and operated a successful One Hour Martinizing establishment in Old Bridge, NJ. Upon retirement, Marvin and Phyllis came full circle and moved to Florida where their story began. Together they were “MarvPhyllis.”
Marvin was a good natured, happy, friendly person; a kid-at-heart. He consumed more candy and ice- cream than humanly possible and had the good fortune to live in good health well into his late 90s. Having a natural aversion to green, he avoided vegetables like the plague except for potatoes, corn and tomatoes with doctors declaring him a medical anomaly. Marvin had many loves besides snicker bars and chocolate ice-cream: Monmouth Park Race Track, professional football (he was a season ticket holder with the NY Giants and the Miami Dolphins), power walking on the Jersey boardwalk, reading newspapers, watching CNN, reciting poetry, animals and nature, hot corned beef sandwiches and tormenting those he loved with his teasing ways. He was a founding member of The Prince Society of Syracuse, NY.
Marvin was predeceased by his wife Phyllis Katsin Rosen, parents Rose and Jack Rosen, brother, Robert Rosen, sister in-law and brother in-law Ruth and Robert Kislin, brother in-law and sister in-law Charles and Anita Katsin, son in-law Donald Zuckerman, nephew Rodger Kislin, and niece Lori Pudles. Marvin is survived by his sister, Eileen Berger, sister in-law Shirley Rosen, daughter Cathy (Rolf) Zuckerman, son Jeffrey (Ellen) Rosen, grandchildren Andrew (Tara), Eric (Jessica), Ryan, Elizabeth, Amy, great grandchildren Andrew, Oliver, Emily and Jacob and many nieces and nephews.
Besides great love for his family, Marvin held the following very dear in his heart: Hank, Harvey, Mugsy and Jake. His memory is a blessing.
