Maurice Herbert Bauer's Obituary
Maurice Herbert Bauer, a resident of Boynton Beach, FL and Ventnor, NJ passed away on October 19, 2022, at the age of 92.
He was in the Navy, strategically on the Atlantic Ocean during the Korean War. Thankfully, his ship returned him home in time for his wedding. He was married to his childhood sweetheart for 70 years, they traveled around the world, had wonderful friends, were in the auxiliary coastguard, skied, snorkeled, went scuba diving, earned a bunch of bowling trophies, played tennis, golf and exercised. He and mom loved dancing, and showed their fancy footwork whenever they heard music.
After he retired, he took up painting. He was very talented and prolific, with walls in both his homes covered with his beautiful creations.
He was like MacGyver, he could fix anything, and everything was just a 10 minute job, even those that weren’t. His message was that you just had to have the right tools. He even figured out what was wrong with his washing machine last week, and fixed it.
He worked hard at staying healthy, proactively seeking out medical care and various opinions. He’d swim laps and play tennis, even at 92…he was the only man in the exercise class in his building, and all the ladies looked forward to his participation.
More than anything though was his love for his family. His belief was that you step up for your family, he stepped up in a big way, every day.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey Bauer; son, Paul Bauer; daughter, Nancy Bauer Lederman, daughter-in-law Joanne Bauer, grandchildren Jaime Bauer, Sara and Jesse Lederman. Mr. Bauer will be laid to rest with military honors at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 2nd at South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 State Road 7, Lake Worth, FL 33449. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 11115 Jog Road, Boynton Beach, FL 33437.
