MELVIN AARON PLATT's Obituary
Dr. Melvin A. Platt, from Boca Raton, passed away peacefully on September 20th 2019 at Hospice By The Sea after living a full life for 92 years. He was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan and moved his family to Miami in 1956. Mel was a Marine Vet and earned his DDS Degree at Wayne State University in Detroit Michigan. He practiced dentistry in North Miami Beach for 42 years. After retiring, he worked at NSU College of Dental Medicine as an Adjunct Professor for over 15 years. Mel had many hobbies & passions including reading, playing the saxophone and violin, cultivating orchids, listening to classical music and traveling the world with family and friends.
He was beloved husband to the late Glenna N. Platt for 50 years and is survived by Ruth Levy Platt, his wife of 12 years. He was a devoted and cherished father to Bonnie Gaines (Bruce), Claudia Stupp (Steve), and Jody Steinlauf (Howard). He was known as Keppa to his grandchildren, Jared Gaines (Lindsay), Hayley Freundlich (Brad), Jordan Steinlauf, Eric Steinlauf, Gregory Stupp and Myles Stupp and his great grandchildren, Tyler Gaines, Brendan Gaines, Aiden Freundlich and Grant Freundlich.
Services will be held on Sunday, September 22nd at 9:30 am at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel 5808 W Atlantic Ave Delray Beach, FL 33484 to be followed by Entombment at Menorah Gardens, 21100 Griffin Rd Southwest Ranches, FL 33332. Memorial donations in honor of Mel may be made to Trustbridge Hospice Care, AIPAC, or The American Heart Association.
