Michael J. Novik's Obituary
Michael J. Novik lost his battle with MDS on Monday, April 12th, 2021. He is the dear father of Natalie (Sean Lewandowski) Novik, devoted brother of Sharon (Larry) Plonsker and Belinda (Barry Katz) Novik, loving grandfather of Scarlett and Phillip Lewandowski, adoring uncle of Diana Reihs and Noah Katz, and great-uncle of Max Reihs. He is also survived by many other loving family members and friends.
Michael was born on May 8th, 1943 to Morris and Eve Novik. After proudly serving in the United States Army, he was heavily involved in the fencing industry, owning and dedicating much of his life to Contractors Fence Service in Detroit for 54 years.
He was an avid hunter and collector of many things including art and automobiles. He was very proud of his accomplishments in offshore power boat racing, owning a team called "First-A-Fence". While controlling the throttles, he won several races and awards including “Rookie of the Year (1988)” and records for fastest lap time and high speed on Lake St. Clair.
He adored and showered affection on his beloved Jack Russel Terrier, Bentley, who passed in 2016, and a Lagotto Romagnolo, Marina, who was by his side until the very end.
After work you could find him socializing at his favorite restaurants in Birmingham or relaxing on the weekends at his cabin. He also enjoyed spending his winters with friends and family in Florida. Michael was blessed with having numerous close friendships.
The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. For those who wish to honor Michael with a memorial donation please consider the World Wildlife Fund 1250 24th Street, N.W. Washington, DC 20037
