Obituary for Mildred Lubin (10/16/18-03/29/14)
Mildred Hamburg Lubin passed away on March 29, 2014 in Tyler, Texas. She was
95 years old. Mildred was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 16th, 1918 to
Louis and Rebecca Hamburg. She is predeceased by her parents, her sister, Buelah
Band, her beloved husband of 20 years, Morris S. Lubin, her devoted companion
of 27 years, Arthur Fader, her beloved cousin, Marv and many family members.
Mildred graduated with honors from Girls’ Commercial High School in Brooklyn,
New York. She worked at the Empire State Building in Manhattan as an Executive
Secretary at Schenley Distilleries, Inc. She and Morris had one daughter, Amy,
who she loved very much. After a stint as a stay-at-home mom, Mildred secured a
position on Madison Avenue as an Executive Secretary at New York Life
Insurance Company where she worked for 15 years. She retired to Delray Beach,
Florida where she and Arthur lived at Kings Point. She was very active in the
Kings Point Bowling League. Mildred enjoyed line and ballroom dancing, Canasta
and Scrabble. She loved musical theater and attended many shows throughout her
life. Mildred loved her many good friends, most of whom have predeceased her.
She was lovingly known for regularly sending greeting cards and gifts to family
and friends. She adored her granddaughters, Robin, Abby and Lainie as well as
their mother, Doris and worked hard to keep in touch with them. She is survived by
her daughter, Amy Sherwood and husband, Paul who she loved like a son. Other
survivors include: 7 grand-children, their spouses, 9 great grand-children, several
cousins, nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at Eternal Light
Cemetery, Boynton Beach, Florida on Tuesday, 4/8/14 at 12:15pm. Beth Israel
Memorial Chapel, Delray Beach, Florida, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of
flowers, please make contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association or the National
Alliance on Mental Illness.
