Miriam Stewart's Obituary
STEWART, Miriam F. (Mimi) F. Stewart of Lantana, FL—formerly of Easton and Allentown, PA—passed away on February 12. She would have been 99 on February 22. She was married to the late Frank Stewart for 42 years. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of William and Sarah (Siegel) Friedman. Mimi moved to Easton in her early teens when her father relocated his New York City-based factory, Friedman Bros.(men’s trouser manufacturing), to Pennsylvania. She graduated from Easton High School and Churchman’s Business School. Living in Miami Beach, FL, as a newlywed, Mimi was the office manager and hygienist for a well-known family dental practice. Moving back to Easton a few years later, she worked for the Civil Aeronautics Board. After being a stay at home mother for many years, Mimi became a sales representative for Moiseff Originals, a handbag manufacturing company based in Doylestown, PA. She was a member of the Sisterhood of Temple Covenant of Peace, Easton, and the local Hadassah chapter. Active in all her children’s activities, she served as a Cub Scout Den mother, a Brownie Troop mom, and the PTA. After living for five years in Allentown during the 1970s, Mimi retired to South Florida in 1981. She resided at the Fountains of Lake Worth for 30 years until she moved to the Carlisle Independent Living Community, Lantana, in 2010. Mimi is survived by her daughter Jill Stewart Narrow and her husband Hank Narrow of Emmaus, PA, and West Palm Beach; her daughter-in-law Elizabeth Stewart of Lansdale, PA; her niece Rebekah Goldenberg and her husband Hans Lauten of Easton, PA: niece Judie Biderman; and cousins Janet and Arnold Goldberg of Rehoboth, DE. In addition to her husband and parents, Mimi was predeceased by her son Mark A. Stewart; her brothers Irving Friedman and Paul Friedman; and her long-time friend in Florida, William Berliner. Services will be held graveside at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens in Boynton Beach, FL, on Tuesday, at 11:30 a.m. Arrangements are being handled by Beth Israel Memorial Chapel.
