Morris Rich's Obituary
Morris Rich was born in Sioux City, Iowa on September 25, 1930. Morey was the youngest of Abe and Sarah Rich’s six children. After high school, Morey enlisted in the Air Force National Guard during the Korean war. Prior to being sent overseas to England, Morey was sent to Bangor, Maine to reactivate operations at Dow Air Force base. While there, he was invited to share a holiday meal at the home of Aaron and Hilda Gotlib. Morey fell in love with their daughter, Linda, whom he married in 1953 when he returned to the states. Blissfully married for over 67 years, they had two daughters, Lauren of West Brookfield, MA, and Karen of Waltham, MA.
Morey attended Husson College, which gave him the business acumen to become a successful Dunkin’ Donuts franchise owner. Previously he was the general manager of Howdy Beefburger in Bangor, and Mr. Big in Orono. He had two Dunkin’ Donut locations in Bangor, with additional stores in Waterville and Rockland, ME. Morey was able to retire early, at the age of 55, when he and Linda moved to Delray Beach, FL, where he spent the remainder of his life.
Morey will be remembered for his generous spirit, acceptance of everyone, his good nature, and most of all for the love he had for his family, both immediate and extended. Morey is pre-deceased by his parents, Abe and Sarah, and his siblings Harry, Rose, Leo, Edward, and Max. He is survived by his wife, Linda, his two daughters, Lauren and Karen, and his grandson Marc.
