EPSTEIN – Morton
Morton Epstein was born on March 26, 1928 in Philadelphia in Strawberry Mansion. He is predeceased by his father, Joe Epstein, a barber for many years on 31st Street, his mother, Sonia Epstein and his younger brother, Jules. He was a graduate of Northeast High School and served in the army during the Korean War. He worked at the Arrow Store on Market Street in Philadelphia for many years beginning at the age of 12 as a stock boy and rising to a Department Manager and Buyer. He founded and operated "Man's World" a successful 10 store men's apparel chain in several South Jersey & PA malls. He was also a long time member of Alpha Phi, a fraternity of young Strawberry Mansion men. Fondly known as Morty, he was an avid tennis player and gardener. He retired to South Florida in 1981, where his love of tennis remained constant. He played weekly until the age of 87 and credited the sport with his longevity. His is survived by his longtime life partner, Henrietta Moskowitz; daughters, Wendy and Barbara Epstein (Phil), grandchildren, Rachel and Daniel Epstein (Melissa), Andrew and Emily Steiker-Epstein, and great-grandchildren, Emilia and Zane Epstein.
