Morton Harvey West's Obituary
Morton Harvey West, 93, of Delray Beach, Florida passed away May 11, 2017. Formerly of Newton, MA and Cape Cod, MA, Morton retired to the Palm Beaches over 30 years ago with his beloved wife Anita Blanche West and lived in Palm Beach, Boca Raton, and Delray Beach. Morton and Anita were married for 68 years until her passing in 2013. Morton owned and operated 13 bowling establishments throughout Massachusetts as well as three night clubs. He was a founding member and president of the High Ridge Country Club of Palm Beach and in Massachusetts was a member of the the Belmont Country Club in Belmont, MA and the New Seabury Country Club in New Seabury, MA. A proud WW II veteran, Morton was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He was wounded in action while in Europe when his motorcycle set off a land mine and spent a year recovering at the American Hospital in Paris. He was the devoted father of Susan West Horwitz and her husband Alan, Wendy West Bronson and her husband Noah, and Cindy West Ray and her husband Jeffrey; the proud grandfather of Jordan Ray and his wife Samantha, Ryan Radkay, Dr. Amanda Bronson, and Jillian Ray; and the loving great grandfather of Otis West, Alexander Leo, and Edith August. He is also survived by his significant other of many years Shirley Liss. The family expresses its deep gratitude to Dr. Robert Collins for his care and guidance of their father. Funeral services will be 12:15 PM on Sunday May 14, 2017 at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 11115 Jog Rd., Boynton Beach, Florida followed by entombment at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens in Boynton Beach with military honors.
