Muriel Gura
June 22 1926 – August 27, 2017
Muriel Gura—a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt—died Sunday evening after a short illness. She was 91. Muriel lived a full life devoted to family and friends, especially in Jackson Heights, N.Y., where she lived for more than 30 years, and Boca Raton, Fla., where she has lived since 1990. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Pete, with whom she had 30 wonderful years of marriage. She is survived by her three children, Andrea West and her husband, Nick, of Agoura Hills, Calif.; Meryl Gura, of Conifer, Colo.; and Les Gura and his wife, Terrie, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; her sister Selma Finkelstein, of Boca Raton, Fla.; her sister-in-law Sheila Horowitz and her husband, Marvin, of Boynton Beach, Fla.; her grandchildren Brian West and his wife, Lauren; Justin and Ethan West; and Alex and Sydney Gura; and her great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Norah West. She also leaves behind her nieces, Ellen Finkelstein and Caryn Yisraelian, and nephews Evan Stein and Adam Horowitz, and numerous extended cousins, nephews and nieces.
A gravesite service will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be considered to Hospice by the Sea – Trustbridge, 1531 W. Palmetto Park Road, Boca Raton, Fla., 33486.
