Murray A. Danz (3/3/1938 – 6/27/2017)
Murray Alan Danz, age 79, died Tuesday, June, 27, 2017 from complications of lung cancer. Murray is survived by his wife of 51 years, Irene Gelber Danz; children: Barry and Shelly Danz, Warren and Lori Danz and Elliot Danz; grandchildren: Megan Danz (19), Ryan Danz (16), Ella Danz (12), and Mia Danz (8). He was predeceased by his brother, William B. Danz as well as his parents Sally and Harry Danz of Blessed Memory.
Murray was born in the Bronx, NY and grew up in Brooklyn, NY and Columbia, SC. He graduated from Madison High School in Brooklyn, NY and received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from The University of South Carolina. He held multiple senior executive positions at Macmillan Publishing, Grolier Publishing and Tandy Corporation. He founded Study Zone of South Florida, a non-profit educational assistance company in 2000 and actively managed the business until his death.
Murray served on the Board of Directors of Huntington Valley Athletic Association for almost 10 years. He also served on the Board at Stonebridge POA and on the Executive Board of Fountains Country Club. In college, Murray was President of Phi Epsilon Pi as well as serving as the President of the Interfraternity Council at South Carolina.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday June 29, 2017 at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel , 11115 Jog Road, Boynton Beach, Florida 33437 with burial to follow at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens, 11520 State Road 7, Boynton Beach, Florida 33473. Rabbi Lisa Gelber, Murray’s niece, will officiate.
Shiva will begin at 6:30 pm Thursday night, Friday from 1-4 pm and Saturday night at 6:30 pm at our apartment in Boca West. The address is 7802 Lakeside Blvd. Apt. 766 (which is on the 6th floor). You can enter the community through Glades Road, Yamato Road or Jog Road.
