Murray Lipkin's Obituary
Murray Lipkin, 95, of Boca Raton, FL, passed away on September 5th, 2022, at Hospice by the Sea in Delray Beach, FL.
Murray was born April 22nd, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Rose (Sipowitz) and Matthew Lipkin. Murray graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School in 1943 and then worked as a draftsman for two years before enlisting in the Navy in 1945 attaining the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class. After completing his service, Murray was honorably discharged in 1946 and went on to Brooklyn College, earning a degree in biology. After college, Murray continued his career as a draftsman, eventually joining Kollsman Instrument Corp. where he worked for approximately 25 years. While at Kollsman, Murray became a design engineer and group leader, contributing to products for the NASA missions. After leaving Kollsman, he worked for Venus Scientific for approximately another 18 years until his retirement.
Murray married Lucille (Scher) Lipkin on September 16th, 1950. Murray and Lucille were married for 68 years, up until Lucille’s passing in 2019. They lived in Flushing, NY, where they raised two children, Andrea (Ralph) Lanni and Deborah Kiba. In 1992, they retired and moved to Boca Raton, FL where they enjoyed traveling, theater, singing, bowling and spending time with friends and family. Murray was also an avid fisherman, frequently taking his grandchildren to fish at local ponds.
Murray leaves behind his daughters, grandchildren Erica, Marisa, Sumaya and Michael, and one great-grandson.
Services will be held Friday, September 9th, 2022 12:00 PM at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 5808 West Atlantic Ave., Delray Beach Florida. Interment to follow at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida.
