Nancy Ellis' Obituary
It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our beloved mom, grandma, sister, wife, aunt, and dear friend Nancy Ellis at the age of 70 on April 8, 2020. Everywhere she went she greeted people with her warm smile, and so, she was nicknamed Smiley. She loved all animals, especially dogs, caring for many in her home over the years! It was because of her smile and ease that so many people felt a connection with her over the years from the local butcher where she raised her children in Illinois, to her favorite pizzeria close by her home in Delray Beach, Florida. Upon learning of her liver disease NASH, 20 plus years ago, her smile did not disappear. Instead, she smiled more fiercely, and behind the smile grew hope, determination, and the strongest will to live any of us had ever witnessed. Nancy underwent a life-saving liver transplant in May 2008, followed by many other major surgeries and complications including a kidney transplant and heart attack. However, she would not want us to remember these, because she kept fighting like the superhero that she was for so long. She fought because life is precious; the people in it are precious, and she wanted to be here to share in their joy. Even when she was down, Nancy always asked about others. She will always live in our hearts. Services are private by necessity. A funeral will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2020 at 12:15 in Florida.
