NINA KARAS's Obituary
Nina Karas, 73, passed away unexpectedly on January 7, 2018 while in Jerusalem on a family trip to Israel. She was born in Philadelphia, PA to Ruth and Martin Sacks. While her birthplace dictated she should have been an Eagles fan, the NY Giants were her true love. She graduated from Boston University and moved to NYC to conquer the world or at least gain acceptance to Columbia Law School. Nina chose a different path and obtained Master’s Degrees in Social Work and Psychology. She worked as an educational therapist and impacted the lives of so many young people with whom she never lost contact. Nina’s greatest joy in life was being a mother raising her beloved Ilana Samantha and Scott William. She instilled in them the values of faith, family, and the belief that everything was possible if you just followed Mommy’s advice. For as much as she loved being a mother truly her greatest joy came as being Mimi/Emee to her four jewels Andrew, Adam, Sydney, and Sloane. She could be found in the first row of all of their events and activities cheering them on with great pride. She adored her bonus in-law children Dana and Steven who she treated as her own. Nina’s passions included Duke University Basketball complete with face painting, volunteering in costume at Boca Raton Regional Hospital, Diet Peach Snapple, leaving two minute voice mail messages, buying everything at Bloomingdales, and sharing NY Post articles. She was fortunate to share a beautifully close relationship with her brother Stephen and his family. A beautiful, brilliant, light has left us long before her time. A woman of boundless energy and enthusiasm her zest for living will long be remembered. Left to grieve her loss are her brother Stephen Sacks, sister in law Susan and nephews Robbie and Brian. Her children Scott and Dana Wachs, Lani Davis and Steven Finver and her grandchildren Sloane Wachs and Adam, Andrew, and Sydney Davis vow to honor her memory and forever celebrate the joy she brought to us all. Donations may be made to The Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation (Marcus Neuroscience Center) 561-995-4142. The Karas Family will be receiving Friends at the Lani
Davis and Steven Finver residence, Friday immediately following the Cemetery Service, Saturday 5-9 pm and Sunday 12-3 pm.
